The governing body of Soroptimist International (SI) as it is today was formed in 1952.
Currently, SI consists of 5 federations each corresponding to a geographical region:
The creation of the SI Africa Federation (SIAF) was officially inaugurated by the President of Soroptimist International 2020 - 2021, Sharon Fisher at the Soroptimist International Annual General Meeting (SIAGM) on 30 June 2020.
SIAF is currently comprised of 4 regions:
In 1979 the first Soroptimist International Club was chartered in Nairobi. Beldina Simba was the Charter President.
In 1996, Soropimist International Kenya Country (SIKC) which is the governing SI body in Kenya was formed.
Over the years, the growth of SI clubs in Kenya has remained steady, with the count currently standing at 13: Nakuru, Kakamega, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Maseno, Mumias, Karen Blixen, Kisumu Winam, Nairobi Millimani, Nairobi Central, Vihiga and Embu.
